Next, I had to create a contents page for my School Prospectus. First, I made the background colour the same as the front cover, I then used an image I had taken before for my background. I cropped and feathered the image. I used this image as it shows both a boy and girl, of different races working independently, which connotates a multi-cultural school who encourage independent learning.I then added text 'CONTENTS' using the same font and colour as the front cover. I then added more text as subtitles as to what could be read inside the prospectus.Thursday, 17 February 2011

Creating a school prospectus
My next task was to create a cover of a school prospectus. I went around taking pictures around the school of signs and mainly people working. Once the images were uploaded I used photoshop to create my front cover. I first used an image of the front of school for my background. I then selected other images and cropped them to fit the scale of the front cover. I feathered each of them so they would merge into the other images. I adjusted the brightness of each image to create a more professional look. I then added text to the layer to introduce what would be inside the prospectus. I made the background colour the same as the 'St Marks' sign to match the allignment and draw the readers eye towards the centre at the pictures. I used each picture to portray the ethos of the school. I used the medium shot of the people studying to portray a school which encourages individual study. I used the ariel shot of the group of students studying to show a sense of team work the school also encourages. Thursday, 3 February 2011
Analysing Magazine Covers
In class we were given a powerpoint presentation in which we learnt about the different aspects of a magazine cover. We learnt about the four main aspects; Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity, which relates to the positioning and content of the cover. We learnt about font styles, advertising content, the attention, interest, desire and how to use the Image and the power of words to anchor meaning and encourage people to buy it. After taking notes I was then given some magazine covers to analyse and annotate.

Photoshop
We learnt how to use Photoshop through a demo and once we'd grasped the basic acpects we then designed a cover of a nature magazine. I called mine 'Nature World' and used an image of a butterfly for my background. I altered to scale of the image to fit the background, I then altered the brightness of the picture to make it look like a professional shot. I added text for the title of the magazine and for various articles that would be included inside the magazine. I copied a barcode from Google images and decreased its scale and rotated it into my desired position. I then added some more headlines and subtitiles using different colours. Friday, 14 January 2011
